Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has not given up hope of convincing real Madrid enforcer Sergio Ramos to join Arsenal.

At the moment Spanish international Ramos is holding contract talks with Real Madrid but is not impressed with the Spanish giant’s initial offer.

The 28-year-old defender remains confident that a deal will eventually be done, while Wenger has let it be known that he would be more than welcome to join Arsenal.

And while Chelsea and Manchester City are monitoring the situation Wenger has gone on the offensive contacting the player’s agent, his brother Rene Ramos.

Earlier in the week Spanish journalist Manuel Esteban Manolete told radio show La Goleada: “Wenger has called Rene Ramos, the agent and brother of Sergio Ramos.”

The assumption is that Wenger was told Ramos expects to be staying at Real Madrid, but that the Frenchman is optimistic that he has now planted the Arsenal seed in Ramos’s head should negotiations between the former Sevilla player and Madrid break down.
