As Liverpool prepares to make their third signing of the summer and Chelsea finalizes the deals they have been working on Arsenal fans are starting to ask when will Arsene Wenger announce the first of what Gunners fans hope will be at least four new players.

One such player we suggest Wenger look at is Porto’s Colombian striker Jackson Martinez who has averaged 30 goals a season the past two-years and has now allowed Colombia to go into the World Cup not worrying about the loss of Radamel Falcao knowing that they have a sizable replacement in the form of the 27-year-old Martinez.

The Portuguese club has put a £40 million price on Martinez but could be willing to accept less if a top club was to approach them now with a reasonable offer.

Spanish La Liga side Valencia fresh with an input of cash from new owner Singapore billionaire Peter Lim are also said to be interested in Martinez.

Earlier this week Valencia president president Amadeo Salvo talked about the forward saying he ‘hopes Jackson can come’ and adding that ‘if he does, we’ll undoubtedly have one of the best strike forces in the world’.

With so few top quality strikers available this summer we at Soccer Transfers feel Arsene Wenger’s desire to not do any transfer business until after the World Cup is wrong, and should Martinez have a good showing for Columbia not only will his price go up but it will alert other teams as well.

You can see why we like Martinez so much in the video below and why we think he could be the right man for Arsenal. Please let us know if you agree or not.
