The future of Gonzalo Higuain is still on many a football fans mind, as depending on what he decides to do will have knock-on effects when it comes to other transfer dealings this summer.

Napoli are now the latest club to become involved in the Argentinians transfer speculations with reports saying that the 25-year-old has been given 48 hours to decide if he wants to move to Serie A or not.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said after Los Blanco’s 6-0 win over Bournemouth yesterday that the club has not accepted an offer from the Italians.

“Not true, I don’t have any news about this. I think that now we have to speak about Higuain as a Real Madrid player. I spoke to him this week. He is a Real Madrid player and until we have news we have to consider him as a Real Madrid player and I would like him to stay with us. He is very important to us and nothing else – it is not my business to judge the price of a player.”

It was assumed that a deal had been done by Arsenal for the striker but apparently Wenger was not prepared to pay Madrid’s asking price, and as soon as Napoli became interested Madrid upped his value by 10€ million forcing Arsenal to turn their attention to Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.

It is well known that Suarez would prefer to join Real Madrid, and with Wayne Rooney almost a certainty to join Chelsea should Higuain join Napoli  Arsenal could be left with egg on their face as other than Valencia’s Roberto Soldado there are not too many available strikers the Gunners could sign.
