One thing incoming manager Louis van Gaal can certainly not complain about is the fact the club did not give him enough money to buy the players he wants after anting up a £220 million war chest that does not include the signing of Southampton’s Luke Shaw for £27 million that the Daily Mail predicts will be completed in the next few days.

The new manager’s focus however is still on his job as the coach of the Netherlands, which has made the job of United’s CEO Ed Woodward’s all that more difficult as he lacks the experience in the transfer market that is needed to ensure you get your targets for the right price.

The list Woodward has been given contains the names of Roma’s Dutch international Kevin Strootman along with Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who is also a target for Man City and Arsenal.

Atletico Madrid’s Koke, Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, Feyenoord’s Jordy Clasie and Ajax star Daley Blind are also said to be on van Gaal’s list with Atletico Madrid star Joao Miranda and Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels likely candidates for the Red Devils new look defence next season.

The Dutchman is certainly looking to use his influence over his Dutch national team relationship with some of the players along with his ties at Bayern Munich to rebuild the team for what certainly looks like being an exciting time for the Old Trafford faithful.
