New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has given executive vice chairman Ed Woodward a list of players he wants to see at Old Trafford when he takes over the club after the World Cup, and while talk of Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas being a potential target the Manchester Evening News is saying that his name is not on the list.

Prior to van Gaal being given the job Woodward had a list of names from former manager David Moyes that included Toni Kroos, Luke Shaw, Marco Reus and Cesc Fabregas.

Names that do appear on the new list include Roma’s Kevin Strootman and Borussia Dortmund centre back Mats Hummels who van Gaal believes can fill the void left by Nemanja Vidic.

Liverpool target Dnipro winger Yehven Konoplyanka along with Dortmund’s Marco Reus are also names thought to be on the Dutchman’s list.

Van Gaal has learnt a lesson from David Moyes disaster during last summer’s transfer market and by telling Ed Woodward that he has no intention of getting involved in negotiations but that he expects to see the names on his list at Old Trafford when he arrives.
