DNIPRO star player Yevhen Konoplyanka has said no to Serie A side Roma after deciding he would rather join Liverpool or Tottenham next summer.

The pacy winger came close to joining Liverpool last winter after managing director Ian Ayer flew to the Ukraine spending nearly a week to sign the 25-year-old before the deal collapsed after a bizarre turn of events.

Since then the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona has seen the Reds go after other players, but the thought now is that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers would like to have another shot at luring the Ukrainian international to Anfield.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is plotting to deploy the midfielder alongside Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela sticking the wideman behind new sensation striker Harry Kane, and will do whatever is necessary to sign Konoplyanka ahead of Liverpool.

Speaking on his official Youtube channel Konoplyanka says he still dreams about playing in England.

“Yes, Roma were interested in me, but I refused them. Perhaps they will be disappointed but that’s life and that’s football.

“Last time with Liverpool was different. I wanted to go there but the clubs could not agree terms [with each other].

“My goal as a child was to play in England. The leagues are stronger and I still want to try my hand there.”
