Top clubs to battle it out over England youngster

It might not be the kind of news Southampton fans want to hear, but it is looking more and more likely that they are going to have a hard time holding onto Luke Shaw this summer.

Football website caught offside is quoting a story in the Sunday People newspaper claiming that Manchester United manager David Moyes is set to make a £26 million bid for the 18-year-old as he looks to replace Patrice Evra.

The Daily Mail however considers Liverpool to be favourites to sign the young England international saying that manager Brendan Rodgers could make Shaw his first signing of the summer if rumours of Glen Johnson moving to Real Madrid are true.

Whatever the outcome this summer will prove to be a career deciding time for Shaw especially with a World Cup place up for grabs and the possibility of joining one of the country’s top club it is hard to see how Shaw will remain at Saint Mary’s no matter what the Southampton fans may think.
