After having lost Memphis Depay to Manchester United boss Brendan Rodgers tried to play down yet another disappointment by saying the club was not interested in Depay in the first place.
Now he has the chance to repair that piece of bad publicity by signing Marseilles Ghanaian international flyer Andre Ayew, who is keen to move to the Premier League and play for the Merseyside club.
‘I have been with Marseille for years and they’re in my heart,’ he said.
‘But when I was little and I was watching the Premiership I liked Liverpool and I have continued supporting them.
‘It would be a dream (to play for Liverpool), but the dream is to play in the Premier League at the high
est level.’
