manchester united,

After wrapping up their pre-season tour of the USA with a 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United arrived back in England with more questions than answers as manager Louis van Gaal now has to finish his homework before the start of the new season.

Issues linger throughout the team, despite the Dutchman having spent £80 million so far this summer, added to the £150 million he spent in the transfer market last year, and yet despite the big spending several important questions remain unanswered.

Firstly the situation with goalkeeper David De Gea who has already made up his mind that he wants to leave, and given his display against PSG, van Gaal has a decision to make as to whether or not to play him if he remains at Old Trafford next season.

Add to this the missing Angel Di Maria and the move to PSG which seems to be taking forever to complete.

The Dutchman also has a decision to make regarding Chris Smalling or Phil Jones given the horrendous display by Jones in Chicago during the loss to the French champions.

After having watched United’s friendlies we have to say that van Gaal does not appear to have fine-tuned the team yet, and still needs to find a striker and central defender before he can say his transfer business is done, and as for De Gea and Di Maria who knows how that will all end up.
