Valencia initially rejected the Swans first bid of £4 million, but the Spanish giants are bracing themselves for a second offer from Swansea for Pablo Hernandez.
New Swans boss Michael Laudrup had a £4million bid for the winger rejected by the La Liga outfit last week, and is set to try again now he’s on the brink of selling wide-boy Scott Sinclair to Manchester City.
Valencia want in excess of £5m for Spain international Hernandez, and Coach Mauricio Pellegrino is hoping to hang onto the 27-year-old.
Manchester City are expecting to tie up a deal to sign Scott Sinclair on Tuesday, despite manager Roberto Mancini keeping tight-lipped about his list of transfer targets.
The 23-year-old is set to seal a £6.2m move from Swansea early this week as City again flex their muscles in the transfer market.
Sinclair, who was part of the Great Britain Olympic team, was left out of Swansea’s squad for their win over West Ham on Saturday.
And manager Michael Laudrup admitted afterwards that it was down to the speculation linking him with a move away.
“There was a lot going on around Scott this week,” said Laudrup, after his side’s 3-0 win.
“We spoke with each other and decided it was best he didn’t participate at all in our game. You know things can move fast but we will wait to see where things stand.
“We know this could go on to next Friday evening. If he is still here after that, he will be in the squad next Saturday.”
