Want-away Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling has been told to make himself ready for the Reds pre-season tour of Australia and Asia, and that he must set aside any thoughts he has of joining Manchester City.

The England international’s agent Aidy Ward made it clear at the end of the season that Sterling would not sign a new contract at Anfield for any price, which angered the clubs supporters who proceeded to shout abuse at the 20-year-old, and especially so during the final match of the season at Stoke City.

Sterling is keen to avoid having to face the angry fans once again, but has been told if Manchester City does not come back with an acceptable offer that he will be a part of the tour.

Missing from the tour will be Philippe Coutinho and new signing Roberto Firmino who are still involved with Brazil in the Copa America, and German international Emre Can who is still involved in the European U-21 Championships in the Czech Republic.
