While he may not have set Old Trafford on fire since his arrival from Chelsea Juan Mata certainly looked the part a couple of weeks ago when Manchester United beat Liverpool 2-1 with the 26-year-old Spaniard scoring both goals.

How he fits into manager Louis van Gaal’s plans for the club remains unanswered as the Dutchman prepares for a major overhaul in the off-season where he is expected to not only bring in new players but also let go those who do not fit in with his plans.

Tottenham will be lucky if they think they can get Mata for only £18 million after David Moyes paid £37.1 million for him in January of 2014 yet reports in Spain say Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino thinks he can do business.
