Following the video footage of a black man being prevented from getting on a Metro train in Paris by a group of Chelsea fans the club has taken action suspending three of the people involved.

And just today “Chelsea Football Club has suspended a further two people from Stamford Bridge as a result of on-going investigations into the incident on the Paris Metro on Tuesday evening. This makes a total of five to date,” a statement on the club website said.

“If it is deemed there is sufficient evidence of their involvement in the incident, the club will issue banning orders for life.”

José Mourinho admitted that Chelsea were “ashamed” after watching video evidence of the Paris Metro incident.

Chelsea has also written to Souleymane to apologise and has invited him and his family to attend the return leg against PSG at Stamford Bridge next month.

“We feel ashamed and we want to apologise to the gentleman,” Mourinho told reporters at his pre-match press conference. “Even if he doesn’t like football, put him in the director’s box, people will give him a reaction and he will realise that Chelsea is completely the opposite of what happened.

“I’m sure he will get a fantastic reaction, in a way where the fans can express how sad they were about it.”

In response to what Mourinho said Souleymane told Le Parisien: “I appreciate Mr Mourinho’s invitation, but I can’t get my head around being in a stadium at the moment.”
