In what is definitely one of the biggest stories of the summer Spanish Newspaper El Pais, and now Britain’s tabloid the Daily Mail are reporting that Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo will meet with Manchester United officials in the next few days.

According to both papers the Real Madrid striker would be willing to return to England, and wants to hear what his former club Manchester United wants to propose before resuming training with Real Madrid.

According to the ‘Daily Mail’, “Cristiano Ronaldo wants to return to Manchester United after an unhappy season at Real Madrid. Only new coach Carlo Ancelotti can convince the Portuguese to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, but when asked about the clubs star player and Manchester United the Italian dodged the question by saying:

“My opinion is easy. Ronaldo’s a fantastic, marvellous player.”

“It’s an honour to coach a player like Ronaldo like it was to coach Zidane.

“Ronaldo was not on the list of players like Brazilian Ronaldo, Zidane and Ronaldinho that I coached.

“He will be on the list of players I coached now and I am so happy for that.”

The English paper goes on to say, “As FIFA prohibits clubs maintaining official contact with players who have contracts in place, both sides have agreed to deny any kind of meeting”. Signing Ronaldo is a direct request from the club’s new coach David Moyes.

Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in Ronaldo, but with Nike backing a United bid, and the Star thinking about a move to Old Trafford being like moving home it is hard to not see him returning to the Premiership if the offer is right.

Nike is of course the key to this deal, as every piece of football clothing he wears now is Nike except for the most important piece the Jersey which in Madrid’s case is made by rivals Adidas.
