Belgium international Romelu Lukaku is still hoping to one day play for Chelsea, who he joined for Anderlecht in 2011 going on to play only one Premier League game for the club before being shipped out on loan to West Bromwich Albion and then Everton.

The 21-year-old still has two years remaining on his contract at Chelsea yet is once again being linked with a loan move this time to Atletico Madrid as part of a deal that will see star striker Diego Costa move to Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku has said that it would be nice to know where he is going to be playing next season, but he still hopes it will be for Chelsea one day telling Belgium newspaper Het Nieuwsblad:

“It would be nice to get clarity beforehand, but that will not happen, so I’m completely focused on the World Cup.”

“You know, I still have a two-year contract at the biggest club in England, because that’s Chelsea. So I still hope to play there. Chelsea have a good coach.”

Lukaku scored a hat trick for Belgium against Luxemburg on Monday and another goal in their 2-0 win over Sweden so is happy with his form heading to Brazil adding: “I have been working hard on my game over the past few months and everything seems to be coming out now.

“I have a good feeling about this competition.”
