The champions moved back to within 12 points of Manchester United thanks to Carlos Tevez’s first-half winner.

And Mancini said: “We want to look only at first place. We cannot look behind.

“It is difficult, but we have 30 more points and we need to try and win.

“In football, anything can happen in the last seconds.

“We need to win all our matches and if they don’t win three or four or five games who knows? But it is difficult because they are strong.

“Last year we did this — why can’t we do it this year?

“Last year nobody thought it was possible. It is 12 points with 10 games to go. They have three or four difficult games and they can lose some of them.”

Hero Tevez stepped in when pal Sergio Aguero injured his knee in training and he is also set to miss Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final with Barnsley.

Mancini also revealed injury-hit midfielder Jack Rodwell will be out for three or four weeks after tweaking his hamstring.
