Real Madrid is prepared to offer Arsenal target Karim Benzema to Manchester United in the hope of speeding up a deal to sign Spanish international goalkeeper David De Gea according to this morning’s Spanish sports newspaper AS.

Apparently the 24-year-old United shot-stopper has already said his goodbyes to the Red Devils coaching staff, and through his agent Jorge Mendes informed the club of his desire to join Real Madrid.

United however are for the moment at least taking a tough stance saying that De Gea still has a year to run on his current contract and is not for sale, adding that they expect the goalkeeper to honour his contract.

De Gea and his agent both know as does Real Madrid that United has no intention of seeing De Gea play his final year at Old Trafford before walking away for free while he is still only 25-years-old, so intend to offer Louis van Gaal Arsenal striker target Karim Benzema in a hope to speed up the deal.

LVG is desperate to bring in a couple of top strikers this summer and the 27-year-old Benzema could be a good fit for the northwest club.

The ball is now in United’s court, but if Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is serious about signing French international Benzema, now is the time to act rather than later.
