While talking to talkSPORT a day after Real Madrid’s shock 1-2 win over Barcelona at the Nou Camp, former club President Ramon Calderon let it be known that there was still a deal in place to bring Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Despite a deal unravelling at the last minute on deadline day last summer the former Los Blanco’s boss believes that there is some agreement in place to make the move happen during this summer’s transfer window.

“It was really weird what happened last [summer],” he told the Weekend Sports Breakfast.

“[But] Keylor Navas is playing [well], like you saw last night [against Barcelona]. He’s doing that in many matches.

“It would be really strange if David De Gea came but no doubt he is one of the best and also he’s a Spaniard, which helps.

“Apparently there is some agreement. They had a deal from last [summer] for him to come but I can’t tell you [for sure] as I don’t have personal knowledge of that.”
