Real Madrid and Chelsea are preparing to battle it out for Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling after he failed to sign the second offer Liverpool put in front of him.

According to this morning’s Daily Star newspaper various souses in Spain are claiming that Real Madrid trainer Carlo Ancelotti is putting together a stunning £50 million bid for the Reds front man along with Chelsea who are also interested in the pacy winger.

During a recent interview with Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, the Northern Irishman hinted that Sterling was on the verge of signing a new deal with the Merseyside club saying: “It is something the club are speaking with his representatives on and I would think that would be concluded very imminently. “The player is very happy.

“It [the delay] is nothing to do with Raheem; he wants to be here so hopefully we get the solution on that very soon.”
