While we all wait for Chelsea to announce that they have done a deal that will see Radamel Falcao move from Monaco to Stamford Bridge, we here at Soccer Transfers think he will excel as a Chelsea player following a dismal season-long loan at Manchester United, in which he only managed four goals in 14 appearances for the Red Devils.
The reason he looked so bad is in our opinion down to two things one of which is that he was new to the type of game that is played in the Premiership, with the second being the fault of Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal who in the beginning chopped and changed his team so much you did not know from week to week who would be getting the start, and by the time the Dutchman had finally decided on his starting XI the Colombian striker had already given up.
None of this will be the case under Mourinho at Chelsea and with Premier League experience under his belt we expect Falcao to prove all his doubters wrong.
We are also not alone in our way of thinking with Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano expecting his former River Plate teammate to find his shooting boots once more.
“I have not only played against Radamel Falcao, but also in the same team as him with River Plate. I know him very well,” he said.
“Obviously, he is a player with a very important role. He is still missing some continuity after a very serious injury.
“The most important thing is to play a lot of minutes and, for different circumstances, he could not do that at his club even though Falcao has demonstrated that he is one of the best you can find at a worldwide level.
“It is a matter of time. I have no doubt that at some point, the best Falcao will show.”
