No Bid Yet from Manchester City for Wolfsburg Star

Despite big talk in the British press that Manchester City were preparing to pay as much as £60 million for Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, after having already seen a £40 million offer rejected by the Bundesliga club, Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking has said that the club has yet to receive a bid from City or anyone else for that matter.

Speaking after his side lost 2-1 against Villarreal in their opening match of the Emirates cup the 50-year-old German trainer said: “We have no offer from Manchester City. No offer from anybody. Full stop.”

“There is nothing from my side to say, there is no official offer in to Wolfsburg. He has been very good with me. I’m not here to talk about contractual matters, he has no clause but that isn’t a question for us.”

Meanwhile Hecking wants to get the whole matter surrounding De Bruyne’s transfer one way or another with him either staying or going so Wolfsburg can prepare for a return to the Champions League.

“Of course we want to see a conclusion,” the coach said.

“We had a great season and were second last year. Kevin De Bruyne played a big role in this of course, and we want to finish the speculation soon.

“It (speculation) is great for the media but as a coach I have to concentrate on my team, and we have to make sure we start well on August 14 against Eintracht Frankfurt.”
