Arsenal’s Six Goals against Lyon has Wenger WONDERING if he really needs to sign a BIG NAME STRIKER

After having been linked with a host of big name striker this past couple of weeks, and Lord Harris’s announcement that the money was there if Arsene Wenger wanted to use it, the worst thing that could have happened, knowing that the Frenchman thinks eventually the goals will come from other members of the team and not necessarily from a top-striker was for the Gunners to fire six goals past Lyon during their Emirates Cup match on Saturday.

“When you score six goals you don’t have a desperate need (for a striker),” he said.

“We scored four goals in the FA Cup final, we create chances and score goals. We are open-minded, everybody is in the market and many clubs have big, big money.

“It is not mathematics, there is a logic in the game and that means that everyone is playing for each other, every game is different but I still say that we are open-minded but we are not in desperate need. We did not have (Danny) Welbeck or (Alexis) Sanchez available, they are big players.

“Many players scored goals and it is in the continuity of what we did at the end of the season and in pre-season as well. We have shown again that we can score goals, that is what people expect from us.”

This has been Wenger’s way of thinking for some time yet since Robin van Persie’s last season at the Emirates in which he scored 30 goals.

Since then the best Arsenal has done is to see Alexis Sanchez score 16 goals, not nearly enough to make up the ten goals shy that Arsenal needs in order to win the Premiership, and it is these ten goals that can make the difference between winning the Premiership or finishing in fourth place.
