The whole world by now knows that Chelsea would like to sign Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi next summer, but according to reports in Italy we never really knew how serious they were in wanting to get the Inter Milan player to Stamford Bridge until we found out that Blues boss Jose Mourinho has been constantly calling and texting the 22-year-old to convince him to join Chelsea.

And while Manchester United has been mentioned as a possible destination for the £40 million rated player, it would appear as if Mourinho is willing to pull out all the stops to get his man to move to London.

Icardi has scored 16 goals in 31 appearances for Inter Milan this season, and is thought to be ready to sign a new deal with the Serie A club that will see him triple his wages as talks between club owner Erick Thohir and Icardi’s agent Abian Morano continue.

Mourinho will however be prepared to do what it takes to get his man, with Chelsea in a position to offer the young Argentinian more than Inter Milan ever could.
