Mourinho backs Chelsea star to be the words best player

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has backed Belgium international Eden Hazard to become the World’s best footballer after the Blues winger signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract to remain at Stamford Bridge.

Hazard has scored 13 goals so far this season, and now that his immediate future is settled Mourinho says he can now work on becoming the best footballer on the planet.

Mourinho thinks that Hazard has the capability of being better than both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo and win his own Ballon d’Or trophy.

Mourinho told the club’s official website: ‘I am very happy that Eden has signed a new contract. It shows he believes in the club’s coaching staff and players to help him become the best player in the world.

‘He is already a top player and his evolution has been fantastic. He is still very young and he can become the best.’

Since signing from French Ligue 1 side Lille in 2012 hazard has taken the Premiership by storm winning the PFA’s Young Player of the Year award last term, while also scooping the club’s own in-house award.
