All day long Sky Sports have been reporting that money has been flying in on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan to join Arsenal, with the odds now 5/2 that he will sign before February 4th.
Arsenal has been tracking the 24-year-old for years, and were thought to have made contact with the Westphalia side last week while putting a £15.4 million offer on the table, that Dortmund are said to be considering.
Gundogan is a similar type of player to Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira an attack thinking player that is quite happy to sit back in a defensive central role.
And while he might not be particularly fast he is technically gifted and well suited to the physicality of the English game.
Basically he is the type of player Arsenal need right now, a tough guy who also has the skill to ensure that Arsenal’s fragile defence does not come unstuck on counter attacks.
If the Gunners can get him for around £16 million he should turn out to be an excellent buy.
