Despite reports suggesting Edinson Cavani would be signing for Juventus it now appears as if the Italian club as we expected has balked at the Uruguayans massive £300,000 per-week wage demands and have decided instead to go after Atletico Madrid Striker Mario Mandzukic should striker Carlos Tevez decide to leave according to Tuttosport.

Given the fact that the 29-year-old Croatian international could be available for as little as £18 million it opens the door up for bids not only from Juventus, but a host of English clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool who are all in the market for a goal-scorer this summer.

Here at Soccer Transfers we see the summer striker scene as developing in this way with Tevez either joining Liverpool or returning to Argentina to play for Boca Juniors.

  • Tevez to Liverpool
  • Robin van Persie to Juventus
  • Edinson Cavani to Manchester United
  • Mario Mandzukic to Chelsea
  • Gonzalo Higuain or Karim Benzema to Arsenal

Time will tell if we are right or not but we would love to see Cavani and old Trafford and feel at least for a season or two Liverpool would have a replacement for Suarez in Tevez.
