Manchester United has offered Real Madrid £30 million for the 29-year-old defender which they believe to be a fair valuation given the fact that the Spanish international is in his 30th year.

Real Madrid meanwhile has rejected United’s offer calling it not enough for the highly-rated player.

United for their part have rejected Real Madrid offer of just under £20 million for goalkeeper David De Gea saying that they want £35 million for the 24-year-old, who has just one year remaining on his current contract at Old Trafford.

United has tried to make the Ramos and De Gea transfers separate deals, but it would appear to all onlookers that at some point they will both become a part of the same deal, if Ramos is as he has said keen on a move to Manchester.

The Red Devils know that they hold the edge as Real Madrid wants to use De Gea as a long-term replacement for veteran goalkeeper Iker Casillas, while United manager Louis van Gaal sees Ramos as a player he can model his defence around.
