According to sources at Sky Sports Manchester United has not returned to Southampton with another bid for defensive midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, ten days after having first approaching the club over a move for the Frenchman.

Betting meanwhile was suspended Monday afternoon after a deal between the two sides was believed to be very close as Manchester United looks to bolster their midfield options ahead of next season.

Now developments on Tuesday make United’s intentions unclear, with it understood that there has been no contact between the clubs since United first put their bid in ten days ago.

The bid by the Red Devil’s is thought to be less than Southampton’s asking price of £25 million and was rejected because “it did not meet Southampton’s valuation”.

The latest developments could suggest United has perhaps cooled their interest in the 25-year-old French international, and could in fact be looking at other options.
