In what must seem unthinkable to fans Manchester United manager David Moyes has told the Mirror on Sunday that he will not be making any moves in the transfer market this January, and that he also does not remember making a bid for AS Roma’s Daniele De Rossi.

Currently United find themselves 7th in the Premiership 11 points behind the leaders Arsenal and also 5 points shy of the all-important Champions League spot in 4th.

With a squad that to fans and pundits alike feel cannot challenge for the title without reinforcements it will come as a shock to hear that there will be no signings in January.

When speaking to the Mirror Moyes said: “I don’t think so. I think most of the business will be more towards the summer rather than January.”

While it may be difficult to attract the top players to join United in January it may prove even more so in the summer if the club is not in the Champions League.

As for signing Roma’s De Rossi Moyes said: “We did certainly think about bringing him in the summer time. I don’t think it went as far as a bid.”

It seems he may have conveniently forgotten about the £12 million bid they had rejected by Roma as he tries to erase the farce from his mind that he and Ed Woodward did during last summer’s transfer market.
