Manchester United will be in the title race next season

Manchester United manager David Moyes is building for the future, and claims that as early as next season the club will be in the hunt for titles.

With a big game ahead of them against cross town rivals Manchester City on Tuesday Moyes is demanding that his players prove a point and show that they will be up there at the top of the table fighting for the title next season.

The Red Devils have struggled since Moyes took over, and those struggles will be compounded should Manchester City win at Old Trafford and then go on to win the Premiership.

While speaking to the Sunday Mirror Moyes said: “We are building already, with my thoughts and vision for next year. In every game we have to start looking to that. We need to be in there competing for titles next year.

“That’s what this club has done and all the other clubs have had periods where they haven’t been competing for titles.

“There is an added importance if you win big games and it’s something we’ve not done often enough this season.”

When talking about the match against City Moyes added: “I can only see it as us winning.

“I want to be competing for the title and I’m not, so that for me is a big enough low, never mind thinking about who else wins it. City has its own focus and we have ours.

“We need to pick up points to try to get to the top end of the league.”
