Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has made the signing of a world-class striker a priority this summer, but with a host of other clubs also in the market for a goal scorer prices are set to be at a premium.

Just this last weekend the Red Devils were being linked with a move for Atletico Madrid front-man Mario Mandzukic, but it would appear as if they are now set to miss out on the Croatian with his former club Wolfsburg looking for more firepower ahead of their return to the Champions League seemingly leading the race.

This now has LVG turning his attention to Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, who according to the Turin club says they will only sell for £58 million.

‘If we must sell Morata, I’d hope that the club takes in at least £50m-£58m (€70-€80m) as that is his true value,’ Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri told Gazzeta dello Sport.

Our view here at Soccer Transfer is that Edinson Cavani if he leaves PSG will move to Old Trafford, and while we know the club will be signing a top striker we will have to keep guessing until it finally happens.
