According to Dutch daily newspaper De Telegraaf Manchester United has lined-up Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij should they fail to land Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid.

So far United and Real Madrid have been playing a cat and mouse game over Red Devils goalkeeper David De Gea until Sergio Ramos apparently asked to leave the Spanish giants.

Many people assume that the 29-year-old Spanish international is just making noises in the hope of getting a better new contract, but United is taking his want away attitude serious launching an opening bid of £28.6 million.

Should a move not come to fruition however the club has a plan B in the form of 23-year-old Netherland’s international Stefan de Vrij, who joined the Serie A side in 2014 from Feyenoord.
