Manchester United is now the favourites to land Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte after having met with the Frenchman’s agent Jorge Mendes according to Fichajes.net.
The Red Devils have identified the 6ft 2in, 20-year-old central defender as one of their top summer signings, while his current club, Basque side Athletic Bilbao are resigned to the fact that he will be moving on.
Bilbao are known to be tough negotiators, and always reluctant to let their top players leave due to a club policy of only hiring players that are from the Basque region of Spain and France, and with the club being financial sound they can afford to wait things out and get the price they set on their stars heads, which in the case of Laporte is £30.5 million.
