According to reports today Manchester United is said to be willing to meet Valencia’s release clause of £35.9 million for Argentinian defender Nicolas Otamendi
United has been chasing the 27-year-old central defender since last summer, and even had a £25 million bid knocked back by the La Liga side during the January transfer window.
Dutch manager Louis van Gaal is still very keen on signing Otamendi though and reports in Spain say United has agreed to pay Valencia’s buy-out clause despite the Spanish club hoping he will decide to stay. They know however that they are in a hopeless situation should United move ahead with the transfer.
Otamendi is exactly the kind of tough player United needs, as you can see from the video below.
