Manchester United is apparently ready to enter the race for the man Liverpool has already earmarked as a replacement for MLS bound Steven Gerrard this summer AS Roma player Miralem Pjanic.

The Bosnian international recently said there has been no contact with the Merseyside club, and The Mirror now believe Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal sees the central midfielder as a good fit in the team he is putting together at Old Trafford, as doubts still remain over the fitness of his preferred target Kevin Strootman.

The 25-year-olds contract is up at the Olympic Stadium in 2018, and while Liverpool may have thought they had a deal sewn up the may now have to battle Manchester United.
