Now that the Copa America is over Manchester United is to get serious in their efforts to sign Valencia central defender Nicolas Otamendi.

Manchester United first approached Valencia to enquire about the 27-year-old in January, but now appear to be eager to complete a deal even knowing that Valencia will not sell for a penny less than their 50€ million valuation.

Spanish sports newspaper AS is reporting that talks are set to begin next week, with it already looking good for United to get a deal done after FC Zenit Saint Petersburg central defender Ezequiel Garay was photographed on his way to Valencia.

The 28-year-old Argentinian teammate of Otamendi is the perfect replacement for the United target so fingers crossed Louis van Gaal will land a world-class defender.
