Manchester United has apparently beat Liverpool in signing Danish international centre-back Simon Kjaer according to the Daily Express who say the Red Devils think that an £11 million offer to French Ligue 1 side Lille will be enough to bring the 26-year-old to Old Trafford.

This of course would make no sense given the fact it looks as though Borussia Dortmund Centre-back Matts Hummers is on his way to Manchester after telling his German international teammates that he was close to joining United.

Liverpool on the other hand also need to bolster their defence this summer and given the performance of Dejan Lovren, Kjaer would make a fine candidate which is why Liverpool scouts have been seen watching him play for Lille this season.
