Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria and his family are staying at the Lowry hotel in Manchester following a terrifying deal at the weekend in which armed thugs tried to break into the Argentinian internationals Cheshire home.

Di Maria was eating dinner with his wife Jorgelina Cardoso and one-year-old daughter Mia when the attackers used scaffolding bars to smash their way through, patio doors that set off the burglar alarm forcing them to flee empty handed.

The striker’s wife Jorgelina has said that she does not feel comfortable at the house anymore and prefers to stay in the luxury hotel at least for now as her husband hired a security team to guard the house after it had been boarded up following the attempted home invasion.

A source told the The Sun: “Angel’s wife is completely freaked out.

“She has told Angel that she never wants to go back. She may calm down in time but she is very family oriented so she has been really shaken by what happened.”

Police are now investigating the incident.
