Manchester United has signed 24-year-old Daley Blind from Ajax in a deal believed to be worth £14 million.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made no secret about wanting to sign his fellow countryman after being impressed by his display during this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Ajax manager Frank de Boer admitted that Blind would be allowed to leave should his valuation be met by Manchester United which now appears to have happened allowing van Gaal to bolster his squad ahead of Mondays transfer deadline.

United have so far signed left-backs Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo with Blind now thought to be brought in to play a holding role in midfield.

Meanwhile van Gaal is also eager to offload a few players he feels do not fit his plans with Danny Welbeck possibly going to Spurs and Tom Cleverly moving to Aston Villa.

Other players on the departure list include Javier Hernandez, Anderson and Shinji Kagawa who all are being pursued by clubs on the continent.
