Judging by the number of reports in the media linking Jose Mourinho to the Manchester United managerial job, it appears it is only a matter of when and not if the former Chelsea manager will become the Red devils manager. From all indication, Louis Van Gaal will be sacked and Mourinho brought in as his replacement.

And when Mourinho finally becomes United’s manager, he intends to sign Real Madrid duo James Rodriguez and Raphael Varane. According to Fichajes.net the former Real Madrid manager has identified the duo as must Haves in his team against next season and will do everything to convince them to see their future with the Red devils. Both players have struggled to command regular playing time at Real Madrid this season which explains why Mourinho may think he has a chance of convincing the duo to move to Old Trafford.

The links to Varane in particular is an interesting one. Manchester United only has one real centre back in Chris Smalling. Blind is never a centre back. He is a defensive midfielder being played out of position. Should Varane be signed, it will afford the Dutchman the opportunity to finally compete for a place in the starting line up in his favorite position. The DM role. It will be suicidal if United go into next season without having signed a centre back as Phil Jones doesn’t look to me like a player who will ever overcome his injury woes.

The links to James Rodriguez is also an interesting one. The South American have unjustly been treated at Real Madrid and United could offer him the perfect opportunity of showing LOS Blancos the error in their judgment.

James in my opinion offers more to his teams than Bale can offer and should United manage to sign him, they will be signing a player who will not only make the Red devils attack more potent but who can also create chances from midfield as he can play on both wings, behind the striker and in midfield.
