After already having agreed to sign former Barcelona shot stopper Victor Valdes to an 18-month deal United are planning to cover themselves should David De Gea decide to move back to Spain, by going after Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul.

Manchester United manager LVG knows Krul well after the Dutchman played for LVG in last summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

De Gea has been absolutely outstanding for Manchester United this season alerting Spanish giants Real Madrid who now see him as the perfect player to replace Iker Casillas at the Santiago Bernabeu.

United has so far failed to get the 24-year-pld De Gea to sign a new contract amid suggestions that he is keen to make a move back to his native Spain.

With the signing of Valdes current number two keeper Anders Lindegaards poised to return to Scandinavia, with fellow keeper Ben Amos also told that he is free to move.
