Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels is on both Louis van Gaal’s and Arsene Wenger’s wish list as both managers look to strengthen their defences this January, despite Dortmund saying that the 26-year-old is unavailable.
Reports coming out of Italy carried by the Daily Express claim that United have even put an opening bid on the table
Previously Hummels has been talked about as having a value of anywhere between £30-£50 million and while we do not know what United have offered Dortmund it would certainly have to be a sizable offer if the Red Devils are to have any chance of signing the German international.
Dortmund is currently struggling in the Bundesliga sitting second from bottom in the relegation zone at the leagues winter break, and Hummels has voiced his concerns of the team’s poor performance, and the fact it looks almost certain that they will not be in the Champions League next season which opens up the possibility of a move away from Westphalia.
