It would look as though Manchester United was getting closer in their task to sign Benfica attacking midfielder Nicolas Gaitan after the Portuguese club announced the arrival of Medhi Carcela from Belgium club Standard Liege.
The 27-year-old Argentinian has reportedly reached an agreement to join the Red Devils during the summer transfer window as manager Louis van Gaal looks to expand his attacking options for next season.
Part of the deal that will see Gaitan move to Old Trafford could involve United’s Portuguese winger Nani being offered as part of the £22 million Benfica hopes to get from the sale of one of their best players.
