Manchester United has a £110 million offer for Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane rejected by Real Madrid.

This could be the beginnings of a massive deal as the Daily Express claim that the Spanish giants are still keen on obtaining the services of United goalkeeper David De Gea even though they are yet to make o formal offer for the 24-year-old.

Reports coming out of Spain however are saying that the Red Devils have already approached Los Blanco’s about Bale and Varane when everyone assumed it would be Bale and Benzema that they would be interested in.

Varane has long been a target of Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and it has been expected that Chelsea would be the team to go after him and Bale, but it would now appear the Louis van Gaal tried to get the jump on his Portuguese counterpart by getting a bid in early for the pair.

Spanish newspapers Cuatro and El Mundo Deportivo, were quick to point out that United’s offer was declined immediately by Real Madrid, and that United would now wait until they were approached over De Gea before reviving their interest.

Meanwhile this all could be cat and mouse games until new manager Rafa Benitez is unveiled tomorrow as it would be unusual for any transfer business to be done before the new boss even got his feet under the desk.
