Chilean national team coach Jorge Sampaoli has according to the Daily Express said that the reason Arturo Vidal has not moved from Juventus to Manchester United after the Red Devils put in a whopping £47 million bid is because United manager Louis van Gaal is worried about Vidal’s knee.

The midfield steam engine has been linked to a move to Old Trafford all summer after helping steer the Serie A giants to yet another title while also performing well for Chile during the World Cup.

The consensus is that United is prepared to pay the money Juventus is asking but that new manager van Gaal has concerns over a knee injury he picked up towards the end of the season.

Sampaoli is of the opinion Vidal will remain in Italy next season telling El Mercurio: “United want Vidal but Van Gaal has doubts.

“Vidal was a great example during the World Cup in Brazil of not playing in the best of conditions.

“Manchester United wants him, but what restrains his move to England for $80million is Van Gaal, who has doubts over his condition to the knee.”
