Manchester United has moved a step closer in their desire to sign PSV winger Memphis Depay after the Dutch club has confirmed they expect to see him leave Holland this summer.

The rumour is that both clubs have already had talks to discuss a move for the 21-year-old who is regarded as one of Europe’s up and coming talents.

Just this weekend Depay scored from a free-kick in the 4-1 win over Heerenveen to give PSV the Dutch title for the first time since 2008.

He now however seems destined for Old Trafford following remarks from PSV director Marcel Brands carried by the Daily Star.

He said: “There is serious interest from big clubs for Depay. If we were to reach an agreement in the end he’ll make his choice.

“Surely then it will be impossible to say no to this kind of club.”

Despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United remains the red-hot favourites to sign Depay once the transfer window opens.
