Fan and football pundits alike have started to call Manchester United boring after the Red Devils managed to score only five goals in their last six games complaining that manager Louis van Gaal was too busy trying new tactics rather than letting his £200 million worth of attacking talent show what they can do.

Even the Dutchman himself admits his team has not been value for money saying: “In the last few matches we have failed to do that because, of course, it is goals the fans enjoy the most and when we are not scoring you cannot enjoy the game.

“I don’t think we are not attractive enough because we have a lot of attractive players but we have to score more goals. We have to improve our attacking organisation.

“In most of our games we have been the better team with the most chances but finishing the chances is always the most important thing because it is only goals that count.”

United has however suffered a massive blow in their hope of finding goals after pass-master Michael Carrick suffered a calf muscle injury in training that will have him on the side-lines for at least a month.

Van Gaal added: “It is not a minor injury but a muscle rupture. I think it will take more than four weeks. He is a very important player for the team.
“He is also the deputy captain but I have to say that’s part of the job of a manager, especially this season at Manchester United, because we have suffered a lot of injuries.”
