According to the front page of yesterday’s MARCA newspaper both Manchester United and Manchester City are involved in a battle to sign Real Madrid defender Pepe.
The headline in the Spanish daily reads “Mystery Pepe”, referring as to whether or not the Portuguese’s international will sign a new contract with Real Madrid as Manchester United and City wait to pounce.
The 31-year-olds contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expires in 2016, and while he has always had a reputation of being a hothead so far this season he is yet to be booked in La Liga leading to speculation that real Madrid wants to offer him a new contract as a reward for his performances on the field and his changed attitude.
Time will tell, but here at Soccer Transfers we cannot see Pepe leaving Madrid just yet, unless they offer him a deal that is unacceptable.
