According to legendary Dutch football star Ronald de Boer Manchester United and Liverpool target Memphis Depay could be the next Cristiano Ronaldo.
Manchester United is believed to be leading the race for the PSV star thanks to the close relationship Depay has with former national team coach Louis van Gaal and the fact that United is prepared to offer £135,000 per-week in wages to the £25 million rated winger.
Now De Boer is saying that his fellow Dutchman could go on to become a superstar at Old Trafford just like Cristiano Ronaldo.
“He is one of the biggest talents in Europe,” said the former Ajax and Barcelona player while speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
“He has skill compared to a young Cristiano Ronaldo. He is very lively, technically unbelievable, very skilful, and very fast, he has a great goal scoring record, he can shoot from every distance – he has everything.
“For me, he is without doubt one of the best talents we have.”
Liverpool is also said to be in the hunt for the 21-year-old, but De Boer thinks it will be United that gets him.
He added: “I don’t want to say which club is more suitable for him, but if he goes to United he knows there is a Dutch coach there who knows him from the World Cup. That is an advantage.”
