According to the British tabloid newspaper The Sun Manchester City is preparing to offer Liverpool £50 million for 20-year-old sensation Raheem Sterling.

The Jamaican born Sterling has been a sensation for Liverpool since becoming a first-team regular last season, yet is refusing to sign what many are calling a very lucrative contract that would see the youngster earn £100,000 per-week.

And while Sterling recently said he hoped everything would be completed soon he is still yet to put pen to paper with Manchester City now circling like a shark that can smell blood.

Real Madrid is another name being linked with Sterling, but given his young age the Spanish giants would prefer to give him a couple of more years to see how he develops rather than gambling on him now with a big bid.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is under the gun at City given their recent performances, and knows he could be living on borrowed time yet sees Sterling as the type of player to bring some impetus to the team as he hope to challenge for trophies next season.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers however is sticking to his guns and says he will not be bullied over a new deal for Sterling and stands by the Merseyside clubs current offer which he says is a very good deal.
